Estimating Turbulent Discharges from High Speed Videos Development of a field deployable tool is described, which is designed to obtain quickly and accurately, for operational purposes with minimal operator input, a first order approximation of the flow rate of accidental turbulent discharges. The tool is based on image correlation velocimetry and exploits the flow features at the interface of opaque turbulent jets. The tool has been demonstrated to estimate the flow rate within 20% uncertainty.
